Lily spent much of her childhood in Hawaii where she solidified her love of the ocean, Hawaiian culture and everything the islands have to offer. After raising a family in Minnesota and running a boutique in Indiana, Lily returns to the islands to call Maui home.
After attending Harvard University, Sean spent nine years snowboarding and running rivers as a professional guide in the mountains around Vail, Colorado. After several years of developing education software in scenic Arizona, he brings his love for the outdoors, vast customer service knowledge and leadership to Upcountry Aloha. Sean and Lily want to share their love of Hawaii.
Our Creations
We design and make our products in Upcountry Maui, using materials we source from Hawai’i. Our Pau hana ponchos and comf’is are hand-constructed from towels and blankets of various thicknesses to accommodate the high heat of south Maui as wells as the frigid conditions at the top of Haleakala. What does pau hana mean? Synonymous with happy hour, pau hana is Hawaiian Pidgin slang for being finished with work — using the word pau, to finish, and hana, to work, in Hawaiian. Pau hana is more than just a happy hour; it’s all about making the decision to leave work behind for the day and enjoy your free time. Whether you’re finished working, surfing, scuba diving or simply swimming, you will love relaxing in one of our pau hana ponchos and robes. With its roomy sizes, it’s having your own private changing room and much more:
